The Be the Buffalo 5K Memorial Run is a heartfelt community event held in honor of beloved local runners Dianne "Digits" Sullivan Wells and Edith "Needle" Edy Pearson. Inspired by the buffalo's instinct to face storms head-on together, this race serves as a powerful symbol of community support, resilience, and remembrance. Participants are invited to run or walk in a shared journey that celebrates the legacies of two women who deeply impacted the Lexington running scene. Each year, the event directs a portion of its proceeds to a charity chosen by the families of the honorees, continuing a tradition of giving back. The 2026 race specifically supports the family of Kathy Young, a local school secretary whose life was tragically cut short. Join this inspiring gathering to face the storm together and honor those who have left a lasting mark on the community.
