On December 31, 1992, tragedy struck our small tight knit community, as Assistant Chief Arthur Schumacher of the Valley City – Liverpool Township Fire Department lost his life during a water rescue. Assistant Chief Schumacher spent his adult life serving our community. To honor his service and his memory, the Valley City Firefighters Association set up a scholarship fund to help support our community’s firefighters further their education in the field of fire and EMS. Each year during our Street Fair, the Firefighters Association holds a 5K race/ 1 mile-fun run, with the proceeds of this event...
