The Official Las Cruces Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot is a beloved local tradition that invites runners of all levels to kick off their holiday with a fast, flat race. Starting and finishing inside the LCPS Field of Dreams track, the course offers a unique opportunity to chase a personal best on paved surfaces with minimal elevation gain. The 5k route utilizes wide streets along Motel Blvd and Bruins Rd, while the 10k adds a scenic stretch along the City of Las Cruces Mesilla Drain and Outfall Channel trails. Beyond the competition, the event fosters community spirit with costume contests, team challenges, and a donation drive for El Caldito. Participants are rewarded with race swag, tech gear, and a celebratory slice of pumpkin pie at the finish line. Proceeds from the race support the LCRC Summer Youth Program and local high school cross country scholarships.
