The Prickly Pear Trail Run invites you to experience the natural beauty of San Antonio’s McAllister Park across 50K, 15K, and 5K distances. Runners will navigate a mostly flat and fast single-track course featuring dirt, rocks, tree roots, and dry creek beds. The route winds through the park's scenic Blue Loop, Mud Creek Loop, and Mosquito Lake trails, where you'll encounter the namesake prickly pear cactus. This event is strictly cupless, requiring participants to carry their own hydration gear for the aid stations. With a 600-runner cap, this popular race offers a challenging yet accessible trail experience for all skill levels. Whether you are tackling the 50K loops or the shorter 5K, you'll enjoy a well-organized day of trail running in the heart of Texas.
