Are there any mid-race cut-offs?

The marathon has intermediate cut-offs at mile 9.2 (10:00am), mile 15.6 (12:30pm), and mile 20.3 (1:45pm). There are no intermediate cut-offs for the half marathon.

Can I use trekking poles?

No mechanical aids, including poles or traction devices, are allowed unless approved by race staff prior to the event for a specific reason.

Are dogs allowed on the course?

No, dogs are not permitted on the course with runners.

What should I carry for hydration?

All runners must carry a minimum 16oz water bottle or bladder, as there will be no water cups provided at aid stations.

The Blue Sky Trail Marathon & Half is Fort Collins's original trail marathon, offering a scenic tour through the rugged hogbacks of Northern Colorado's Front Range. Runners will traverse a course composed of 90% singletrack, featuring the distinctive redstone hardpack of the Blue Sky Trail. The terrain varies from smooth, rolling dirt paths to technical rock gardens, providing a challenge for both veterans and first-time trail racers. With 3,500 feet of elevation gain for the marathon and 1,800 feet for the half, the course is as demanding as it is beautiful. Participants can enjoy a post-race barbecue and generous sponsor giveaways at the finish line.
