The Bad Little Trail Run invites you to explore the scenic Machias River Preserve in Downeast Maine. Named after the Passamaquoddy word for 'Bad Little Falls,' this event celebrates local conservation efforts through a mix of wide gravel trails and technical singletrack. Runners will navigate through mossy spruce-fir thickets, cross the historic Machias River railroad bridge, and tackle undulating terrain that includes muddy sections and riverside cliffs. The course offers both a challenging 8-mile route and a shorter 2.5-mile option, making it accessible for both trail racers and walkers. After the race, participants can enjoy a community-focused potluck BBQ and awards ceremony. It is a perfect way to experience the wild beauty of Washington County while supporting the protection of local lands.
